In the News: Wausau Prepares to Welcome Innovative Waldorf Inspired Public Charter School

In recent months, Wausau’s newest charter school, RGCS, has become a popular topic of conversation in our community. This environmentally-focused, public, free to attend charter school will offer a unique approach to child-centered learning that is inspired by the Waldorf teaching philosophy. Let’s dive into all the exciting developments that are paving the way for the school’s opening in fall 2024.

Red Granite Charter School Coming to Wausau

Throughout 2023, word that a new charter school would be coming to Wausau started to make the rounds. In December of that same year, we announced that Red Granite Charter School and Monk Botanical Gardens would be partnering to bring an environmentally-based school to the community. Located in Wausau, Red Granite Charter School will focus on hands-on learning that allows students to develop academic arts and practical skills all with a focus on our natural environment.

$1.9 million Federal Grant Secured

Another exciting announcement was made in December 2023 as Red Granite Charter School secured a $1.9 million federal grant. The grant will be instrumental in helping us establish our curriculum, develop state-of-the-art learning facilities, and hire and train educators who share our values and commitment.
